Martial Arts Classes For Children in Cary and Morrisville!
What Can You Expect as a Karate Parent?
At Johnson's Martial Arts in Cary, Apex and Morrisville, expect there to be one or more experienced teachers on the floor in your child’s class along with other assistants.
Expect the teacher to, at times, require a bit more ENERGY. Our goal is to bring the best out of your little child.
Expect the instructor, whether gently guiding everyone along or cranking up the troops, to wear a smile (a happy one!).
We've enjoyed teaching Self Discipline, Fitness, and Character Lessons to our Karate students since 2006!
Juniors
6-12 Years Old
Martial Arts for School-Aged Children:
The Junior (6-12 year old) class is 50 minutes long. Beginner Belts train together, and in this class, your child will develop greater flexibility and range of motion, and strength through a variety of class activity. They will develop hand/eye coordination and focus through the striking of target pads. They will learn to develop power by using the heavy bag. Your Karate student will enhance their memory and concentration through the memorization of patterns. Above all these things, your most precious family member will learn self defense in a positive environment that promotes teamwork, community, and the same family values that you teach them at home. No matter the location, you will receive the same high level of instruction in Cary and Morrisville.
This class averages between 15-20 kids in a class with 1 teacher and multiple assistants. Our aim is a ratio of 5 to 1.
Since our students get to choose from 6 class days a week, we are able to keep the class size smaller in nature. Most students come about twice weekly, and you can choose which days you would like to attend.
Cubs
4-5 Years Old
Martial Arts for Pre-Schoolers:
The Cub (4-5 year old) class is a half-hour and is offered in Cary and Morrisville. Our youngest martial artists learn how to perform with proper and safe technique while gaining self-discipline, heightened body awareness, balance, coordination, and strength. Although, this is a preschool-aged class, the class is structured. We pack each lesson full of life-lessons and physical challenges so that as a parent, you will be confident in your choice...that this is the right learning environment for your Karate kid.
By the way, this class averages between 7-10 kids in a class with 1 teacher and multiple assistants. Since our students get to choose from 6 class days a week, we are able to keep the class size smaller in nature.

Expect a lot of talk about respect, about leadership, about good manners, about anger, about a whole bunch of things just about any parent would love to hear some OTHER adult talking to them about. That’s the way we do it.
Expect a lot of healthy exercise. Our students may not enroll as athletes, but we very hard to get them there. They become martial arts athletes.
Expect some special events, as one of our primary goals is to teach our Karate students to take what they practice on the mat and apply it to other things (like school, like work, like fun, and like --to the community). Expect to look back on your son or daughter's martial arts lessons with fond memories. Expect, genuinely, some very good times.
Try a Free Trial Lesson (and mark my words here, there’s no “hook” or sales pitch in this offer. This is simply a way for you to test drive our school, before ever THINKING about fully enrolling.. This is the way that we've done it for over a decade in Cary, Apex, and Morrisville as the area's top martial arts school for kids.
